This week we’re featuring Hunter Valley gymnastics club, Gymnastics 21 as our Gym Focus. Samantha Nicholls, owner of G21, received top honors in the 2018 Hunter Business Awards and has now taken some time to offer insight in to the workings of her club and let us know why gymnastics is so important to her community.
When did your club start?
How many kids train there?
250 a week in our recreational and competitive programs.
What are you most proud of with your club?
I’m proud that my coaches share the same love and passion for the sport as I do. We love our job and appreciate the families that have chosen us to be a part of their child’s life!
Do you have any special needs programs?
Yes! We run, ‘Gym Ability’ on a Saturday morning at Rutherford.
Why is gymnastics important to your families and their community?
It’s a safe and friendly place to be for the whole family! It keeps kids off the street and gets them active and off their phones! Human connection is probably the most important part, meeting new people and making friends who have something in common.
What do kids gain out of gymnastics?
It’s more than just gymnastics. It’s building friendships, confidence and resilience, fun and fitness in a technology drowned society. It develops fundamentals for life, both mentally and physically.
What is your favourite quote?
Without difficulty there is no growth.
