This month, we talk to Rebecca Tilley, the owner, and director of Reach Gymnastics, who has worked hard to provide a safe, best practice club where children can feel supported, included, and challenged.
1. How many kids do you train and what skills?
Reach Gymnastics started with a 1 hour class once a week at Emerald Secondary College with 17 gymnasts enrolled originally, with lots of hard work, great coaches, and passion, we now have 2 gyms and lots more gymnasts!
2. How many kids do you train and what skills?
We registered over 800 gymnasts in 2019, and run Kindergym, Ninja, recreational, Gymstar and ALP programs. We also run birthday parties, school holiday programs and school and day care groups.
3. What’s your club’s vision statement?
Our mission at Reach Gymnastics is to teach kids first. We build strong, healthy, positive kids. We teach using the 4 F’s, fun, fundamentals, fitness and friendships.
4. What are some of the objectives of your program?
Our objectives are to live by our values and to instill these into our athletes. They are to respect yourself and others, that everyone matters, to always put safety first, to have a caring and positive learning environment, and to have fun! We also aim to be a leading club in our industry.
5. What are you most proud of with your club?
I am most proud of our friendly, family environment. Our team is professional and caring, and we constantly challenge ourselves to be a safe, best practice club where children feel supported, included and challenged.
6. Why do you think your club is important to families and your community?
I think our club is important to our families and community, as we are a place where children can learn not only gymnastics skills, but life skills in a safe and supportive environment. We have a lot of fun and are a happy place for children to come to.
7. What’s a piece of advice would you give to a gymnast?
Fall down 7 times, get up 8 times, never give up!
